“When we bought a small farm in Boulder County, we had dreams but no vision. My wife and I understood the problems with traditional agriculture and knew we wanted to do something ecologically different, but we needed more knowledge and experience to get started. Enter Michael and Alec from Regenerate. They helped us understand what was possible, economic, and vital for the land. We aimed to rebuild our topsoil without chemical fertilizers or pesticides while producing useful agricultural products for our community. Not only did they design and build our farm, but they also taught us how to operate it. We have orchard berms (silvopasture) where everything is edible, medicinal, or commercial, balanced with sheep and bees to produce a zero-input regenerative farm all in less than a year.”
“In 2002, my husband Steve and I bought five acres near Longmont, later adding another 45 acres with a conservation easement that requires agricultural use. Initially, the land was used for hay and cattle for many years, but a few years ago I discovered the Carbon Capture Regenerative Farming movement. Wanting to help heal the earth, I connected with Alec and Michael through Colorado Land Link. Their knowledge of regenerative agriculture and “can do” attitude impressed me, and after visiting a project they completed, I was eager to collaborate. We’re now planning an orchard, growing medicinal herbs, and watching our earthworks come to life, grateful to steward the land with Regenerate’s help.”
